It’s about two colors, calling up a third ethereal color by laws of light and shadow. The magenta interval can occur between all "warm" and "cold" colors.
With warm colors means yellow, orange or red.
With cold colors means turquoise, blue and violet.
In green and magenta, the interval occurs between all greens and all magenta's.
The same goes for red and green. The effect can be explained by color behaving as light - which becomes possible, if they're put next to each other in harmonious amount
