First, find a good picture of a color wheel. The color wheel shows the colors in the order they are in the rainbow, but displayed in a circle. These colors in the color wheel above are quite bright and bold, but any shades of the colors will have the contrast shade across from it on the color wheel.
Contrasting colors are the colors opposite each other on the color wheel. You can look across the circle to find the contrasting color of any color in the rainbow. Choose one color you want to use in the room, or your favorite color.
